What do you Fly Fish for in Montana Rivers and lakes?Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Cutthroat trout and Mountain Whitfish are the main fish we catch while fly fishing.

How many anglers can be in a guide’s boat?Two anglers are allowed in one boat with one guide.

How long is the guided fly fishing float?We meet approx at 9 am and are off the water around 5 pm.

Do we need gear?If you have your own gear then by all means bring it. If you have no gear and are a beginner then you can rent gear from us. If you have a guided float trip your gear will be free for that day.

What is fly fishing gear?Fly Rod and Reel, Line, Leader, Tippet, Net, Lanyard with fly fishing tools, waders and boots.

Do we bring a lunch for the all day guided float?No, we will provide a full anglers lunch per person per boat

What are the best flies to use while fishing in Montana?We sell a fly box with the top 10 best Montana flies. We have narrowed down the all Montana flies to the top 10 Montana flies in 3 different sizes for a total of 30 flies.

Do you need a license to fly fish in Montana?A valid fishing license is required for all types of fishing on state waters for anyone 12 or older.

Can you keep fish in Montana?Yes, however each body of water has different limits. Its best to check with Montana Fish and Game and/or look into the fishing regulation book that comes out every year. If you are being guided by a licensed guide then most likely it will be catch and release since the guide knows where the fish are and what bugs they are currently eating. After your guided trip you are then free to take what you have learned and put into practice and then you may keep a fish according to state regulations.

What weight rod for fly fishing in Montana?The best all around size rod for fly fishing Montana is a 6-weight rod. That said its nice to have a 5 wt for dry fly fishing in Montana.

How long does it take to ship an order?99% of orders will ship within the week. If we are having a sale, especially a popular sale, shipping times may extend to 2 or more weeks for Standard shipping options. If we are having a sale and you need your items quickly, please choose an expedited service.

What service do you use to ship?Standard orders will almost always ship via USPS. The only exceptions are for large or heavy (over 2 lb) items. Flies, leaders, tippets, most fly boxes, tools, and fly tying materials will almost always ship via USPS Ground Advantage.

Where do you ship to?We ship to all US locations and several countries outside of the US. International shipping rates and times will vary, and we can make no guarantees on delivery or any additional duties/tariffs that you will be responsible for. We typically send international orders via UPS or Fedex, but the service depends on our costs. The service will match the price that you paid. We do not make any profit on shipping costs.

Are there any shipping restrictions?We will ship all standard orders via USPS. Please use a PO Box if that is how you receive mail. If your package is returned due to an insufficient addresses, you may be required to cover additional postage to be resent to the correct address, or charged a restocking fee if a refund is requested instead.

What is your return / refund policy?If for any reason you are dissatisfied with your purchase, please use the link listed below to create an RMA. (Return Authorization). We realize purchasing over the internet involves trust, and we thank you for trusting us enough to place an order, and will do anything in our power to retain the trust you place in us. All items purchased at Nye Fly may be returned within 30 days for a refund. Some items may incur a restocking fee. All items must be returned in the original, undamaged packaging. Mailing labels or tape may not be affixed to the original product packaging.
